Armadillo Rooting It is amusing to me that Petey will not bark at deer, coyote or other dogs (except Ranger). And he yahoos and bays when cats are on his home ground. But for an armadillo he barked just like normal dogs do at deer, coyote and the rest. It really did churn up the mulch path a bit. On both sides of the house.

Thanksgiving 2007 Gallardia

The yin and yang of it. The spring wildflowers have started to bloom. The trees are totally denuded or in the process of getting there. It was 86 degrees yesterday and today (this morning) in the high 30s.

Garage Day 15

day15_2_blog.jpg

I am not sure where Day 14 went. It was the day that the stone was finished, the painting was done and the roof was put on. It was a marathon day. But on Day 15 it was done. The left over stone disappeared and the left over sand was spread and I came home from work, pressed the magic button and drove in. Ooh, aaaah…

Garage Day 15

And it was paid for — so it is mine. I stand in awe of it’s pristine emptiness. Hesitating to put stuff in it until there are places to put things. The sand that was spread has proven to be too tempting to the local feral cats. It is the biggest, nicest litterbox in the neighborhood. Yuck.

The tar paper is on the roof and the paper is up to protect the wood from the spray paint. Another thing, extra white rock has been delivered — I don’t know how many tons, but enough to finish the job. Good luck guys!

The little porch is almost done. There is are shims under each post that I am hoping will be covered with something. The view is spectacular — this may be the most restful spot on my property. Come visit and we will put out chairs and watch the deer!

The door and opener have been installed. The opener is one of the quiet, belt-driven ones. And there is a key pad on the outside so I can open it even when I don’t have the opener in hand. The door is white, insulated, but very light weight. I am thinking of painting it — but not right away. Anyone have color recommendations?

Garage Day 8

Garage Day 8

The days seem to mush together. The plywood is on the top, so we are ready for roofers. The insulation is on, so we are also ready for the hardiplank. And the stone is to be delivered tomorrow — 8 tons of it.

Garage Day 7

Garage Day 7

Wow the framing really is happening fast! The insulation isn’t much to speak of. It is like a thin cardboard with plastic on either side. The windows are sitting on the front porch and the side door is propped against the side of the house. And I haven’t gotten the lights or the garage door opener yet…
